<p>The 141st and 150th ARS are the wing's flying units, both operating the KC-135E with a supporting C-26A. The 141st Fighter Squadron was established in May 1949 at Mercer Airport, Trenton with F-47Ds. Called to active duty between March 1951 and December 1952, the unit was redesignated as a Fighter-Bomber Squadron with F-51Hs at McGuire AFB. During 1955 it switched to the F-86E and became a Fighter-Interceptor Squadron. The Tactical Fighter designation was applied in 1958 when the unit received the F-84F. A second call-up occurred between October 1961 and August 1962 with deployment to Chaumont AB, France, the unit leaving its aircraft in France when they returned to state control and converted to the F-86H. The 108th TFG was assigned in October 1962 and upgraded to Wing standard in December 1974. F-105Bs were assigned in April 1964 and flown for 17 years until replaced by the F-4D, followed by the F-4E in July 1985. The 141st converted to the KC-135E during the latter half of 1991.

<p>The 150th ARS has had the KC-135E assigned since 1983. The unit was established in February 1956 as the 150th Aeromedical Transport Squadron at Newark with C-46Ds and then MC-119Js in 1958. The 150th re-equipped with C-121Cs in 1961 as an Air Transport Squadron, with the 170th ATG activated in January 1964. The unit moved to McGuire AFB in July 1965 and was redesignated the 150th Aeromedical Airlift Squadron with C-121C/G. It became a Tactical Airlift Squadron in June 1973 with the C-7A/B before switching to an ARefS with the KC-135A in April 1977. The unit transferred from the 170th ARG to the 108th ARW in 1991.
